arizona sunday night
Bj and I are staying in a motel in Grande Casa, Arizona. He had to be online for Monday morning and we actually couldn’t find an RV park that had wireless and was open to people under 55. So we have a night of luxury and cable tv. After a delicious, if slightly excessive, Mexican feast.
Right now we are watching Bj’s all time favourite family sitcom, Roseanne. He wants me to write here that he thinks its one of the best all time American comedies ever because the characters are not caricatures nor do they have to be good looking like in most comedies.
Grand Casa is in the southern part of Arizona, between Phoenix and Tucson. We spent the last two nights in the desert outside of Phoenix. The desert there is full of saguaro cacti, the iconic cactus that you see in the movies etc. it was pretty cool to see lots of those cactus all over the place.

Also, yesterday we went wandering in the desert and saw a troop of horses materialise over yonder. When I approached to photograph them they all began to move spookily towards us and then move beyond us towards some unnamed but mutually understood destination. It was quite a grand experience to witness. They were so beautiful. The sight of them was truly “arresting”.

YES, Roseanne is really a great show. Roseanne herself is the best. Great sense of humour and great comic timing.

man tell that bj i love roseanne, it is AWESOME.
it was such a funny and great show. honestly, that dan, he KILLED me. i was kind of in love with him in a romantic yet non-sexual way. do you remember that episode when roseanne and jackie’s dad dies and they go and break into their old house and look around? it is actually HARROWING. and their mother, what a character! and ol’ sandra bernhard – she is so great. remember that episode when she was crying about something and she goes ‘then i looked at myself in the mirror and saw how sad i looked when i cry and i felt even sadder!’ and lets not forget george cloony in season one – hot. or that time they pick up a riot grrrl hitchhiker and she plays them bikini kill in the car.
what a show!
oh, one more thing. you know how the show always opens with them around the dinner table helping themselves to dinner and tehn roseanne goes ‘hahahaaa!’? well, i could never stand new beccy’s way of doing it – awful. way to up beat and chirpy. i was wondering if BJ had any thoughts/insights into this?
