Guest post from Kentucky Nick
Hello Australia (and presumably, other parts of the world)!
First and foremost, thanks for letting us borrow Beccy and BJ these last two springs. They’re great, and we’re sure that when they’re here, you’re sad they’re not there.
Where to begin … It’s a really arbitrary story, how our worlds collided. http://www.ourloveisamazing.com/blog/?p=15 Last year, my [...]Sweet Kentucky
The people in Kentucky are very polite and sometimes so nice that you feel blessed to be here. There’s a real old fashioned politeness that I think southerners are proud of. For example, gents always hold the door open for ladies and if you are in a lift with strangers they will always gesture for [...]
Miguel’s
Right now we are at “Miguel’s” which is the pizza restaurant in the middle of Appalachia that triples as a campground and a climbing supplies shop. It’s in a part of Kentucky where there is a lot of rock climbing and so it serves as a hang-out for climbers that come from all over to [...]
a good book
So I’m reading this book called “Prep” that is the best book I’ve read in a long time. It’s by a lady called Curtis Sittenfield who is 2 years older than me. I found out about it in Lee Tran Lam’s zine of reviews and interviews. She wrote about this book [...]
Lexington
Spent the day hanging out with Nick and Mallory today in Lexington. It was really fun. We all went for lunch and then Bj went to the library to work, and I wandered around town with them and they showed me historic buildings and cool shops and we had a beer. We hung around. Those [...]
movies in lexington
So I went to the movies today to see “Baby Mama” (starring Tina Fey who is in 30Rock which is great and she is great in it and I love her). I was running late and at the counter I asked the girl if the movie had started while I was about to pay and [...]
Man oh man there is a lot to say
Man oh man there is a lot to say. All of the things that I was so excited about and now it’s all a bit in the past and yet I want to document and report on these small and big events.
Ok so here goes. In order, from when we left Deadwood…
Mount Rushmore
Mount Rushmore was [...]Hello my friends. So much to say. So much has happened and there’s so much to write about and yet I’m strangely uninspired. Well the truth is that we’ve been at sea (aka offline) a lot these past few days and then yesterday I wrote lots of blog and then something malfunctioned when I tried [...]
Thanks for your comments Dave, Micky, AK and Helen. AK- Pierogies/perogies are east European style dumplings filled with potato and cheese or meat etc. You buy them frozen and then fry them up. They are delish, you can buy them everywhere in Canada. In Sydney you can buy them in Ashfield and Bondi.
Live from Deadwood
Hey all, so we’re on the road again. We left Oliver, B.C. on Friday morning. We finally decided to go to Kentucky.
The Air Card
The first thing we did was drive to a town called Osoyoos (yes it’s very awkward to say) to pick up Bj’s “air card” which is a thing that he sticks in [...]
